TAYTAY SA KAUSWAGAN, Inc.
Microfinance Champion
The success of Taytay sa Kauswagan, Inc. can simply be told using figures. Starting with a capitalization of only P2,500 with three employees in 1986, it now has a loan portfolio of P720.5 million, employing 1,518 people in its 64 branches scattered all over the country. Committed to develop micro-enterprises by providing financial assistance to increase productivity and income, TSKI has created opportunities for the unemployed and the underemployed.
But TSKI did not stop there. It also provides business development services as well as entrepreneurship training and value formation seminars. It has a packaging center and a laboratory to encourage quality control so its clients can meet the standards set by supermarkets, enabling them to increase their profits and ensure repayment of their loans.
TSKI’s clients come from a diverse sector, among them trading, farming, manufacturing, food processing, crafts making and service providing. Some of its clients have received awards on micro-entrepreneurship, while others grew to become leading business names – proofs that TSKI has concretely bridged the gab between poverty and progress.
