MARISSA C. SEGOVIA
Solid Waste Management Champion
Marissa Segovia’s passion for cleanliness and sanitation in the city is legendary. In running a car dealership and a gas station, she made solid waste management an important component of her business ventures. Waste segregation is a rule in her companies where trash-to-cash has become a best practice and a source of funds for the needs of her employees.
But Marissa’s championship of solid waste management is not limited in the confines of her businesses. Perhaps, this was the reason why she became the unanimous choice when the local leadership was scouting as to who would head the Clean and Green Program of the city government. Soon after, she was named the co-chairperson of the Iloilo City Solid Waste Management Board.
Marissa has now become synonymous to solid waste management. She can be seen in hotels delivering inspirational messages on waste segregation, and at the Calajunan dumpsite inspiring waste pickers with her presence as she facilitates the social development needs of the area. Believing that every person or organization should do their part in making the community better, Marissa’s volunteerism is surely an inspiration to everyone.
