World Expo 2015 Public Consultation (August 2005-April
2006)
The CDCA and Nicole Swerhun led a team of public
consultation engagement specialists to develop and
implement a city-wide public consultation process.
This team designed the consultation approach, organized
the outreach, including outreach to media organizations,
facilitated 19 meetings and reported on the results.

as access points for the consultation. For more

Parc Downsview Park
(PDP) Urban Development Plan and Sustainable Community
Development Guidelines (ongoing)
As part of a team led by bmi/pace, CDCA designed
and is facilitating consultation with community,
industry and government stakeholders to generate
their ideas for an urban development plan and
sustainable community development guidelines for
PDP. The first of two special planning forums
was held on January 27, 2006. Jeff Evenson facilitated
the 1st annual public meeting on February 20,

Toronto Sport Summit (2006)
CDCA provided support to coordinate the Toronto
Sports Council’s first ever Toronto Sports
Summit on January 21, 2006. This included distributing
Summit invitations, managing participant registration
and reporting on the proceedings.
Public Health Agency of Canada, Survey
of Syndromic Illnesses in Cuba (2006)
The CDCA was retained by the Public Health Agency
of Canada to design and conduct a survey of infectious
diseases among Canadian tourists in Cuba.
Toronto Sport Strategy Framework (2005)
The CDCA, in partnership with Karen and Mike Pitre
(The Londsdale Group Inc.) and Dr. Ken Jones and
Sean Marshall (The Centre for the Study of Commercial
Activity, Ryerson University), developed a Toronto
sports strategy framework including a model for
financing community sports facilities. The report

Green Building Alliance (GBA) (2005-ongoing)
The CUI in partnership with TRCA, Sustainable
Buildings Canada and the Canada Green Building
Council has formed an alliance to promote market
transformation in sustainable building and construction
in the urban development sector in the Greater
Golden Horseshoe. CDCA managed the bid to host
the Global Sustainable Building Conference in
Toronto in 2007 and 2008.
Niagara River Greenway (2004-2005)
CDCA was retained to bring together local governments,
volunteer organizations, environmental non-governmental
organizations, constituent groups, stakeholders
and the public to share their vision of a Niagara
River Greenway and to facilitate a regional consensus
on the implementation of a Greenway. CDCA developed
an inventory of natural heritage, cultural and
environmental assets along the Niagara River (from
Buffalo, NY to Youngston, NY). As a neutral facilitator,
CDCA assessed support for and identified challenges
to the concept of a Niagara River Greenway.
An Assessment of the ‘Options for
Homes’ Model for Low Income Home Ownership
(2004)
The CDCA with David Miller analyzed and assessed
the ‘Options’ model for providing
ownership housing to low-income households. For
the Toronto Community Housing Company and the
City of Toronto’s Let’s Build Program.
